PROJECT PAGE (BEFORE)
On this and the following page are the "before" and "after" pictures of the extreme basement makeover
that turned a bare basement (concrete floors and walls, and minimum insulation) into a home theater,
party center with bar and full bath, and a home office/extra guest bedroom and concealed storage areas.
The remodeling consultant, Home Improvements by Owner, presented me with a list of items that
needed to be bought and provided the sequence in which certain sub-contractors needed items ordered,
purchased and delivered. For example:
Framing/drywall Framing wood, drywall, finishing wood, paint, stain
Electrical Lighting fixtures (recessed, pendant, ceiling, bathroom), dimmer switches, outlet
covers, vent fan for bath
Plumbing Bar sink and faucet, bathroom sink, vanity, faucets, showerhead and controls,
toilet, shower door and base
Flooring Carpet and pad, tile for bath (wall and floor), laminate and accessories, thresholds
I picked up many of the items myself or arranged for delivery by the contractors or merchants.

This space will become my home office/spare guest
room.
This is the staircase leading to the
basement
Believe it or not--this will become a full bath
Lots of insulation goes into the ceiling over the home theater
area.
